Sunday in the Park

Friday, October 19, 2012

About a week ago, we packed up our munchkins and headed out yonder to Irvine Park.  Ever since the kids and I spent my birthday there, Hailey has been asking when we can go back.  I'm glad that my lil girl has taken on my love for this place:)

We grabbed lunch from a local deli and relaxed, chatted and watched our kids run wild, like animals!  It was great!  Well, great until "someone" in our family got the genius idea of renting some four-wheel bike (in 90 degree weather) to 'cruise' around the park for a brutal hour!  Haha!!  Oh heavens, Justin and I thought we were going to both die trying to peddle that 2,000lb bike around the darn park!  We came to a point where "someone" (again, I'm not going to mention names or point fingers) decided to take the beast, I mean, bike up a hill, where cars piled up behind us, only to sit there and watch us get stuck and then proceed to nearly die of laughter (we were the ones dying of laughter, I'm sure the cars stuck behind us were not amused)!  To make matters worse, the peanut gallery was in the front of the bike, yelling at their parents to "GOOOO! C'mon guys, go faster!!!"  What a sight we were!

After putting our tails between our legs and feeling extremely out of shape, we returned the beast(although, in our defense, the kid at the bike return laughed at us when we told him about the hills we peddled up...he made us feel better by saying our bike was meant for flat paths.  Ummm...why didn't the kid who sent us out on the bike tell us that??).

Next, we hit up the zoo!  Yep, they finally let us back in, four years later, after being escorted out when Hailey sent the Mountain Lion in a frenzy during one of her toddler tantrums;)  She still thinks we're kidding when we tell her that story!  It was NO joke, kid!

We love that little zoo! Michael loved "grooming" the goats and we had to remind him a few times not to kiss the goats....ewww!  Hailey on the other hand, preferred standing on top of a tree stump and  have a panic attack everytime a goat came within a ten-foot radius of her.  Good times, folks.  The rest of our tour was uneventful and it was unanimous that the beavers were our favorite animal in the park!

We ended our fun day with stopping for a cold treat on our way home!  Happy kids, happy Mommy and Daddy:-)
