Yep, today is a perfect day for ice cream! You see, whenever it downpours outside, I am taken back to one of my favorite memories from my childhood.
Starting as a young child, whenever it would be pouring rain outside, my dad would take me to good ole' Thrifty's drugstore for none else than an ice cream cone! And not just any ice cream cone, a DOUBLE-SCOOP ice cream cone!!! (A very huge deal, in a little kid's life!) After getting our ice cream, we'd make a mad dash for the car and sit there together, eating our ice cream, teeth chattering and all, and watch the rain come down, all while feeling like the most important little girl in the world!
Oh, and the flavor would always be the same...1 scoop Vanilla and 1 scoop Apricot/Mango Sherbet (we'd create our own "50/50" flavor).
I can't help, but come across this memory on days like today, when it's raining cats and dogs outside! It will truly always hold a special place in my heart! So, Dad...thanks for always making this fun little tradition for us!
