"Hiiiii, choo-choo!"
Such a FUN day!
Cupcake decorating for the 4th's festivities:) Oh, the joys of being at Gaga's...getting to do messy projects;)
Fourth of July morning in San Clemente...one of our favorite spots!
We let the boys play at the park and then embarked on a little hike on our beloved trails
Loved our special time with our boys! We would've loved it with our girl too, but she chose to stay home and help get ready for the 4th of July party:)
These boys worked up an appetite, so we headed over to Wahoo's and then ran to Under Armor at the San Clemente Outlets. Whew, fun and busy morning!
As always, my mom and dad put on such a nice party and another memorable 4th is in the books! One of my favorite parts of the 4th was getting to see my sweet Gigi and Poppy...miss them so much and always grateful when I can see them in person!!!
Dana Point Harbor
SOO many squirrels! Michael was SO patient, as he was determined to have one grab the food from the top of his shoe. One got close, but no official takers...we blame Grant;) ;) LOL
My new love, KAYAKING:) How have I NEVER tried this before??? I guess that's some of the joy of moving away and getting to come back and visit; you try things you never would've take time to try when it's "in your backyard," so to speak. Loving being able to "vacation" here!
JP and crew:) Halfway through, Grant looked too chill and like he might fall asleep-ha. Oh, and can we take a minute to notice that Hailey is sporting MY old life jacket! Talk about deja vu!
We pretty much smoked our competition;)
We ended the afternoon with ice cream at the harbor...and then a long nap for this babe!
We decided Thursday was a beach day, down at San Clemente. Our kids are seriously at SUCH awesome ages for things like this now (insert alllll the praise hands.) We grabbed Del Taco (had to check that off of the "things to do in CA" list) and headed down.
Beach days everyday...how cool that we get to vacation here now!?
Leave it to Gaga to make a s'mores pit in her own backyard! She knows how much my kiddos looooove s'mores and made the coolest "homemade" firepit. Talk about a blast!
Another fun adventure with Gaga! She's always got the best ideas...I joke and tell my kids that I'm taking notes for when one day dowwwwwn the road, I'm hopefully a Gma too:)
The four of them spent the morning at the Ocean Institute in Dana Point, while I got the morning "off" and went on a glorious 1.5 hour walk/run/workout around the harbor! Dana Point has a large piece of my heart and
We were SO excited to meet the "Fluffies" for dinner on Friday! Hailey and Michael headed to a sleepover at their cousin's, so we just had Grant with us. These two were hilarious together!!
We walked around the mall for a bit to let the kids burn off some steam and stumbled upon these HIDEOUS glasses! Do people actually wear these???? Maybe it's an OC thing;) ;)
Straight from Napoleon Dynamite-ha
Saturday evening we headed to celebrate Fluff's 40th birthday. We both could've bet money that Justin was JUST (and I mean JUST) heading to Palm Desert to celebrate his 30th!? Time is a crazy thing! We were so thankful to be able to be in CA for this, as we wouldn't want to miss celebrating with one of our favorite people:)
The Piots, The Fluffies, The Meadors
We got up Sunday and met Justin's sister, Mom and Frank at the Great Park in Irvine. The weather forecast had said the heatwave was supposed to cool down a bit by Sunday, so this sounded like a great idea, but man-oh-man, was it ever a scorcher (and HUMID)! Didn't let it spoil our fun, though! It was really sweet watching this batch of cousins run wild together! We let the men volunteer (ha) to take the kids up in the big, orange balloon, while we watched with our feet planted to the ground;)
We met the Williams at the Spectrum (although, looking back the pool would've been a MUCH better idea...it was HOOOOOTTTTT!)
Our hearts are always full when we can be with the Williams crew!!
My only way to describe these were giant sized, frozen Fruit Loops. I think we were all expecting more of an ice cream-type treat, but nope, frozen Fruit Loops;)
The end of our afternoon got a little interesting with a rental car that left us stranded in 103 degree weather. Yep, as soon as we were on the on-ramp for the freeway, the Yukon we rented started acting WEIRD! The freeway started to jam-up (shocker) and I told JP "pull off, there is NO way I'm breaking down on the side of the 5 freeway!!" Luckily, my parents came to our rescue and picked the kids and I up and JP was able to get us a new rental. Could've been worse, but what an ordeal!
We ended the evening by taking the kids up to my sister's house for some swimming with their cousins. No shortage of fun when these eight are together!
Two more days in CA...
