MAUI!!!

Tuesday, July 1, 2014

It's no surprise to anyone that the Piot crew embarked upon a week-long adventure to Maui, last August.  This trip was many years in the making and was one of the first things we had on our "must-do" list, after Justin started at his new company (where he was no longer made to feel like the scummiest person on the planet for taking a few days of vacation!).  We booked this trip waaaay back in February, six months out from our actual trip.

Having gone to Maui for our Honeymoon, we knew we wanted to take the kids back there because let's face it, it's pretty much Heaven on Earth!!!!

Since our plane left earrrrrlyyyy in the morning, we actually headed down to San Diego the night before and stayed at a hotel a few minutes from the airport.  Seriously, the excitement from the four of us was HUGE!!!!  Both plane rides going to and coming home were flawless...go, kids!  Except, why did I get stuck with Michael on one side and an 89 yr-old CHATTERBOX with a medium case of dementia and hard of hearing on the other???  Bless this woman's heart, but seriously, hearing the SAME stories over and over for almost six hours had me a tad worn-out by the time we landed in Maui!  Trust me, if I could've had an in-flight Mai-Tai, I would've had three!

The rest of our week was filled with nothing, but making the best of memories!  The kids are still talking about our trip, which makes Justin and I feel like the best parents on the planet...ha! ;)  It was definitely a week of living like kings and queens, having no schedule to follow, and eating whatever the darn-well we pleased...POG juice, anyone?? ;)

First dip in the pool...officially on vacation!

Slappy Cakes was directly across the street from our hotel...we all loved this place!

Morning One:  after Slappy Cakes, we walked across the parking lot, to stock up on some nummies

POG Juice Spritzer, anyone??  Mommy's lil "mocktail" creation!

We're smiling now, but this was the beginning of THE worst dining experiences we've EVER had!!  Seriously, picture everything that could go wrong on the restaurant/server's end and that's exactly what happened.  Oh, and picture two EXTREMELY patient and exhausted kids who fell asleep on hour two, before their dinners even arrived.  It was an epic restaurant fail.  Major thumbs-down for Bubba Gumps!

THE. BEST.
