After lunch, we continued our journey north on highway "1," with our final destination being Monterey. I think I must have reminded Justin and Hailey "what an amazing place" we live in, oh, about every three miles;) Really though, California is downright gorgeous!
Shortly after arriving in Monterey, we checked into our "pricey," yet we'll just call it "rustic," hotel room. Apparentely, paying over $200/night, in the city of Monterey doesn't get you much in the way of hotels;) At least, it was extremely clean (a MUST for who is completely grossed-out by hotels) and the staff was friendly! We had fun having all three of our rooms in a row! Our rooms had a great, little deck, where we all had coffee after dinner and breakfast, the next morning. That is what vacations are all about, right?
The next morning, we were off to the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium. I had been there as a child, but it was so neat being able to take my own child there, now as an adult! The girls had fun and Hailey even conquered her fear of penguins! (Well, sort of...ironically, one must have snuck in our bags because it followed us all the way to San Francisco and ran across the hotel room and under Hailey's bed, later that night as we were eating dinner! Hmmm...)
After the aquarium, it was lunch and then time to head into San Francisco. Thank goodness, for a two-hour car ride because Bug used almost every second of our drive to take a much needed nap!
Although, they mis-spelled "Hailey," we still would like to thank Santa Barbara for naming a street after our daughter ;) (even though, it's probably been there many, many years before she was born)
